A Unix timestamp represents an instant; switching zones changes its clock display, not the underlying instant. Daylight saving time is applied automatically for the selected region.
Seconds vs milliseconds
Many backend APIs return a 10-digit Unix timestamp in seconds; JavaScript's Date constructor expects milliseconds, typically a 13-digit value. ISO 8601 timestamps ending in Z are explicitly UTC, while timestamps with an offset such as +05:30 represent an instant in that offset. ISO values without a timezone are intentionally rejected to prevent ambiguity.
